Sue Wolcott LM, CPM, RN
My intention is to empower women to ease into their birth adventure through education, knowledge and CHOICE. I have been involved in the birth arena since 1975. I began as a labor coach and became interested in midwifery after witnessing the disturbing contrast of hospital verse homebirth concerning normal low-risk pregnancies. My clinical experience consists of a five-year apprenticeship with a Certified Nurse Midwife combined with study from the Seattle School of Midwifery and completing/passing the California Challenge Process. I attended an internship at Casa De Naciemento, a birthing clinic on the Texas/Jaurez border and completed another succession at the Maternity Center In Miami Beach, FL (currently on TV as "House of Babies"). I am licensed to practice midwifery by the Medical Board of California and I am a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), certified by the National Assoc. of Registered Midwives (NARM). I am a graduate from Clayton College where I received a degree in traditional naturopathy in 1995. My knowledge in alternative medicine helps to keep my perspective of pregnancy, labor, birth and the breastfeeding process natural. I received my RN in 2000. I have worked in labor and delivery as a OB Nurse in a small rural hospital, as well as completed a high-risk training course in a level 4 hospital. During most summers since 1998, I have worked and taught in many birth centers, both in and out of the U.S. I have attended 900+ births and I deeply trust in the process of natural childbirth. Personally I have given birth to four children. My children are now grown, and I'm blessed with two grandchildren. My first grandson was born at home, in warm water, into my hands.
